"We refuse to treat podcasting as content assembly. Every episode is an act of deliberate communication — shaped by principle, not template." — The PurelyPodPulse Manifesto, established 2021
Before we discuss formats, microphones, or distribution channels, we settle something more fundamental: what do we believe about the medium itself? These five convictions are non-negotiable. They determine who we work with, how we produce, and what we will never compromise on. If they resonate with you, we're probably a good fit.
We don't fill dead air with filler. Pauses are compositional choices. A three-second breath between thoughts can carry more weight than a scripted transition. We edit with restraint, not anxiety.
Not the algorithm, not the sponsor, not the host's ego. Every production decision — from intro length to episode cadence — is measured against one question: does this serve the person listening?
We don't race to publish. A well-mixed episode released on Thursday will always outperform a rushed one dropped on Monday. Our production timeline respects the work, not the calendar.
We don't manufacture atmosphere with stock music beds or artificial reverb. If a conversation happened in a quiet room, it should sound like a quiet room. Authenticity is a sonic choice.
We don't take orders. We collaborate. If a creative direction undermines the podcast's integrity, we'll say so — clearly and constructively. That's what partners do.
Most podcast studios sell you a package: recording, editing, distribution. We sell conviction. The technical work is a given — we've been doing it for years. What makes the difference is how we approach it. When a producer believes in silence as a tool, your interview episodes breathe differently. When an editor refuses to over-compress, your narrative episodes retain their emotional range.
We've worked with independent journalists, cultural commentators, small nonprofits, and one very determined beekeeper who wanted to document the sounds of her apiary across four seasons. Each project was different. The principles stayed the same.
"They told me my intro was too long and my outro was unnecessary. They were right. The show improved immediately." — D. Kavanagh, documentary podcaster
I came to PurelyPodPulse with a vague idea and a USB microphone. They didn't upsell me on gear. They spent the first session asking what story I actually wanted to tell. Six months later, we had a 12-episode series that I'm genuinely proud of.
— Roisín Ní Bhriain, "Tidal Patterns" podcastOther studios gave me turnaround times and price lists. PurelyPodPulse gave me a philosophy document. I thought it was pretentious at first. Then I heard the difference in the final mix. The restraint in their editing is remarkable.
— Tomás Whelan, tech commentary hostWe don't package our work into tiers. Instead, here's an honest map of what we can do, what we do best, and where we'll tell you to look elsewhere.
| Capability | Our Strength | Honest Note |
|---|---|---|
| Concept Development | Deep — we help you find the show inside the idea | We won't develop concepts we don't believe in |
| Recording & Session Direction | Remote and in-person; we direct with a light hand | We don't own a physical studio — we partner with local spaces |
| Editing & Sound Design | Our core craft; narrative and conversational formats | We avoid heavy sound design for fiction — that's a different specialism |
| Mixing & Mastering | Broadcast-standard; LUFS-compliant delivery | We master for listening, not loudness wars |
| Distribution & Platform Setup | All major directories; RSS management | We don't manage social media — we'll recommend someone who does |
| Ongoing Production Partnership | Season-long commitments with editorial involvement | Minimum engagement is typically 6 episodes |
Not every podcaster wants a principles-first studio. Some want fast turnaround and minimal creative input from their production team. That's legitimate — it's just not us.
You're a good fit if you care about the listening experience as much as the content itself. If you're willing to spend an extra week on an episode because the pacing isn't right. If you want a production partner who will challenge your assumptions, not just execute your brief.
You're probably not a good fit if you need daily episode output, if you want heavy music beds on every segment, or if you see production as a commodity to be purchased at the lowest rate.
"They turned down a project of mine once. Said it didn't align with how they work. I respected that more than any sales pitch." — Anonymous, via email
We spend more time here than most studios. Concept refinement, episode architecture, guest preparation notes, and tone calibration happen before any recording.
Whether remote or co-located, we direct sessions with presence but without intrusion. We note timestamps, flag moments, and protect the natural flow of conversation.
Editing is where principle meets practice. We cut with purpose, not paranoia. Noise reduction is surgical. Music, if used at all, is composed or licensed — never generic.
Every episode ships with a brief production note: what worked, what we'd adjust, what we noticed. This feedback loop is how shows improve over seasons.
There's no standard price because there's no standard show. After an initial conversation, we propose a scope and fee that reflects the actual work. Most season-length partnerships fall between €3,200 and €9,500 depending on episode count and complexity.
From our first meeting to a published pilot, expect six to eight weeks. We don't rush the concept phase. If you need something live in two weeks, we're not the right studio.
Selectively. We've produced branded podcasts for organisations whose communication goals aligned with genuine storytelling. We won't produce thinly veiled advertisements disguised as episodes.
Yes, though we prefer to be involved from concept stage. Editing-only engagements work best when the host has a clear vision and consistent recording quality. We'll be honest during the intake call about whether it's a good fit.
Tell us about your podcast idea, your existing show, or simply what's on your mind. No obligation, no sales funnel.
